April First ©

April first.
April fools day
It’s also the day I wrote my first post for this blog three years ago.
Three years, wow.
Three years 721 posts 10,000 comments and my hit counter says 85,000 but all that means is I reload my blog a lot HA HA HA

I never thought I could talk for that long.
Over the last three years my blog has evolved from the reserved pious style I used to write, to the slightly more….. Muddled style I use now.

First I would like to thank all of those who have been with me from almost the beginning and those who I have come to know and respect over the last three years here on my blog.
I have made many friends here in the last three years as my phone bill can attest too.
Many still blog, others have stopped and I miss them a lot but I know life takes precedent to blogging.

Writing is not always easy when you want to express your feeling and thoughts in your way for others to read and understand.
Many times I have expressed my views and have been braced for them but I welcome this because I see it as a way of learning for me and maybe the other person.
I know I am not right all the time and need to be put straight but there are times when I am just different and not wrong as many of us are.

As I watch the world in its mayhem I wonder how much more peaceful it would be if people stopped and tried to understand what the hate and fear is doing to them and instead of trying to stomp it out learn what you don’t know about first.
Before mass media we never had the problems we do now.
Politicians and world leaders use the media as a tool to enrage the masses so that they could elicit their support while following their agenda, what ever that may be.
I don’t point my finger at no one in particular.
Maybe all politicians in the world should be pointed at and all the leaders of the world who have the people looking up to them asking for the truth but what they get is speculation and ignorance.

I have always tried to accept people with their differences and looked for what we could share so that we can enjoy those experiences but there have been a few people I have parted with because we couldn’t see past something insignificant.
It’s in those times I see my failures, not because of winning or loosing but loosing a friend over a difference of opinion when we agreed to so much more.

I am not going to dwell on the last three years of this blogs life, I write because I enjoy it.
I write for me with you in mind so why don’t I just dive right into a new year and see if I can squeeze a fart out of you.

Organic food, what is it and why does it cost so fucken much?
Let’s go ask Wiki and see what she says.

Organic foods are produced according to a certain production standards, it means they were grown without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers, human waste, or sewage sludge, and that they were processed without ionizing radiation or food additives.
For animals, it means they were reared without the routine use of antibiotics and without the use of growth hormones. In most countries, organic produce must not be genetically modified;.

Did you read that?
Organic food is food that hasn’t been fucked with.
I know there’s an organic sheep farmer laughing at everyone somewhere.

Basically it’s growing food the way our great grandfathers did with nothing more than a whole bunch of land and shit tilled into the earth.
In other words they don’t have to spend a shit load of money buying chemicals and hormones to make their food bigger, food that we eat and give to our kids.

I don’t know if many of you noticed but the kids today are bigger than when we were their age.
I mean there are 13-year-old girls going for breast reduction today because their boobs are growing out of control.
When I was 13 the girls were stuffing their bras with tissue just to show a bump, not even a cup size.
My neighbour’s son is 6-8 and his parents are all less than 6 feet tall.
His uncle is a midget.

We are what we eat and we buy what is cheap because lets face it, life today isn’t cheap.
Gas prices flying through the roof effects the cost of everything from production to delivery and in the end most of us have to drive to the store to get food too.

They link pesticides with many of the cancers we are suffering but people still use them and we swallow it all up in the food we eat.
They tell us to wash our food first so we don’t poison ourselves.
See they acknowledge we could be poisoning ourselves but what eludes these people is that after they spray the pesticides on the plants they water them and it gets absorbed into the plant and their fruit/vegetable, swallow that crap or DDT.

Another thing, how do you wash out the hormones that are injected into the meats we eat?
They give cows hormones to produce more milk.
They give steers hormones to make them grow faster and bigger.
They give hormones to chickens to make them grow faster.
I used to work on an experimental farm where they grew some new strains of food and live stock.
The chickens were forced to grow so fast that if someone slammed the door a half dozen or so would die of heart attacks because their nervous systems were so out of whack they were high strung and if you pissed them off, they came for you.
Something like a flock of mad Don Knots characters

So if organic farmers don’t have to buy all the chemicals to use, then why are organic foods so expensive?
They say it’s because of the yield per acre.
If they use drugs they could grow more per acre than organic farmers can.
So what’s your point?

If you put organic food at the same price as poison food we’ll buy the good stuff and the other stuff could rot on the shelf.
It’ll take probably months because of all the formaldehyde in them.

You want to know what I think?
I think they are taking advantage of us.
They know we are scared and are willing to try and buy the non-toxic food by buying organic but an organic chicken in ten bucks and a toxic one is four.
An organic turkey is ninety bucks but a toxic one is twenty-five.

I can’t afford a ninety-dollar turkey so I have to buy the glow in the dark Butterball.

Over the last few centuries our new advances are slowly looking to be steps in the wrong direction.
Our politicians see what is happening but they could afford the organic foods so are not in an all fired hurry to find ways to make the pendulum swing back the other way and at least give our grand children a chance for a longer, healthier life but when the right pockets are greased, nothing get fried in the frying pan but us.

Romaine lettuce 79
Organic lettuce $1.89

When the price of food is twice what you can afford, what is left to eat?

The other day we got news of my mother best friend who miraculously came back from the dead.
She passed away on the weekend.
This is the same woman who had her last right read to her then she got up feeling like new.
The extra month she got on this earth gave her the time to see those people she almost missed last month.
Maybe that was the miracle.
We will be going to say our goodbyes on Thursday.

Now, remember my guest who left Saturday to head back to the UK?
Her plane arrived at 10:30 am in the morning after 9 hours of travel and she had to take a fifteen-minute cab drive to the hotel where her husband was waiting for her to drive her home, which is another hour away.

I don’t know about you people but when someone is coming home from a long trip I think someone should be meeting them at the airport especially if it’s a partner to welcome them home, not make them take a taxi to meet you at the cafe whilst you sit there drinking coffee like a prick.
He called every day to tell her what a mess he was making and how he put the dog in the kennel until she got back so he wouldn’t have to take care of it.
The last time she came here to visit her parents he sold the furniture she brought over from here that her grandmother left her.

I just don’t understand people no more.

I am happy I have gotten to know many of you and look forward to meeting new people in the future along with getting to know you even more.

That's it for me on this April First.
Oh, remember I said I wrote my first post on April first?
I did but I posted it on the second, April Fools

Have a nice day

Walker

Well, Happy Bloggaversary ... whenever!!

I couldn't believe you said, "life takes precedent to blogging." Are you nutz?!?! :D I have morning coffee and blog (or read blogs) at the same time. I've admitted that I'm probably addicted. sighhhh.

Having a party for your blog anniversary? :) Any excuse for a party, eh?
Well then, happy Anniversary.
Gee, even my hubby comes all the way to the airport to pick me up! I can see why she'd smoke that much pot! Mine 's tried the 'giving' things away thing, luckily I have none of my grandmother's things, but we have some of his grandparents' furniture. He got rid of some furniture (nothing from his family) when I was in Europe 4 years ago, most I was fine with, but his grandma's old sewing machine was gone too, so I told him I was giving away his tools; the sewing machine was back here the next day. :)

Oh, if I had known, I would have thrown you a Bloggy Party Walker!

I love the music and also agree with your thoughts on organic produce. The rich get richer and the poor get.... sicker. Bah!

Happy Bloggaversary Walker. 3 years is very impressive, I dried up after a year but then your life will always be more eventful than mine. Your friends husband sounds like an ass. I have to drive my husband over an hour each way to the airport every 10 days but wouldn't have it any other way.

nachtwache: HA HA HA you know how to hit below the tool belt don;t you.

Any day you can sit with your friends and party I suggest you do it.

Anonymous Boxer: Its ok, I have partied enough this last two weeks LOL

I just don;t undewrstand why such a price difference for something that cost less to grow with less work.

I understand that farmers would need more land to accomidate for yeild but sales would make up for it.

gab: Thanks and I am glad we found each other.
Un tainted food tastes better and is better for you, I agree so why don;t they just keep doing it like they did for centuries.
Techniques for better crops should be used instead of steroids.

Happy Blogaversary, I sure have enjoyed the ride with you.
I don't understand people, especially family who don't help each other. I go out of my way for my family all the time, gladly. Yeah some take advantage but ... oh well. You take the good with the bad. They've been there for me too, many many times.

Oh yes, learned from the best.
Good friends and good times, worth celebrating!
If you can get some seasonal food right from the farm, it's usually cheaper and has a lot more nutrients. Organic produce looses a lot during shipping.

Patti: Thank you, I find people are more and more getting into self preservation mode and not caring about others even family

nachtwache: We grow as much as we can in our small garden in the summer and after that we are subjection to the produce department at the local store
