Kayla ©

It’s 4:30 am and I just finished and posted my weekend post.
Then I went to check on Susan’s blog to see how Kayla was doing only to find that she isn’t with us any more.
I have been following her battle for years now and I knew she would beat the odds in the end.

As someone looking in from the outside, a stranger, I saw a strong brave woman, not a child.
She stopped being a child when she was thrown into the ring with a viscous opponent that has cursed our hearts from the day we discovered it but she showed her metal when she stood up to it and fought it all the way into May.

Today with the spring blossoms standing at attention, Kayla travels to where there is no more battle.

A Champion because she won every second she was here on this Earth to be with her family.
Now she is where she could at last be a kid once more but the memory of her smiling face will forever remain with us.

I wish to convey my deepest condolences to her family.
Their angel will always be with them.
Those who wish to stop over at Susan's blog can click on any part of this post.

When Angels Go Home

Thunder pounds the sky
Angel wings beat in the distance
Sorrow fills the air
Raindrops fall to hide the pain

A blanket of love washes away the tears
While the sun peeks through the dark clouds
Warming up hearts with its smile
Hugging those who will be missed

It was gentle wings that carried her soul here
Gentle wings carry her soul back
But she is not gone
The wind will always whisper her name

Stop and feel her breath touch your cheek

Have a nice weekend

Walker

Walker,
thank you for this beautiful tribute. I shall print it up and send it to her parents along with all the loveing comments I have received in support.

I cant say enough about how fabulous the blogging community has been through the last couple of years.

You know Walker, I don't get here (or anywhere anymore) a lot. When I do I like to try to catch up and read as much as I can in one sitting ... I don't aways comment because I'd be all day long at it ... but this one was SO touching. I'm so sorry to learn this young lady lost her battle. I went to Susans' site but didn't leave any message as I'm not sure of the relationship, etc.... but I'm so sorry for Kayla's family and friends.
You are a wonderful friend to have posted this for Susan.

You're such a honey.
